Vegamar Seleccion Garnacha 2014 y Vegamar Blanco 2014

  • The blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat from Vegamar white 2014 recons once more international awards.
  • El Vegamar Seleccion Garnacha has become this year’s revelation among the young wines from Valencia being the most awarded in its category.

Succeeding with a wine in France, and more specifically in Bordeaux, in Les Citadelles du Vin competition is something remarkable and it’s something that Bodegas Vegamar has achieved this week not with one, but two wines: Vegamar White and Vegamar Seleccion Garnacha, both from the last harvest in 2014 with Pablo Ossorio already at the helm.

Spain won 25 awards between silver and gold, for a total of 1,204 participants from around the world in this important Bordeaux contest, and Vegamar’s wine were the only from Valencia, so we are very pleased to have placed the the DOP Valencia among the winners.

Vegamar White 2014 won a gold medal. This year its blend was changed following Ossorio’s arrival to the “engine room” at Vegamar’s project, betting on a Sauvignon Blanc, of international taste and knowledge, with the contribution from the Muscat, more attached to our soils increasing the nose and sweetness and complementing the acidity and freshness of its dance partner.

This blend is proving a success both in sales and critics recognition, leading the wine to the top scores on the specialized guides, achieving medals and international awards. A few weeks ago it achieved a silver medal also in France in a contest of Sauvignon Blanc, which added to the silver medal at Mundus Vini in Germany underscores that it was a winning bet from the very beginning.

When talking about the Vegamar Selección Garnacha, made exclusively from this indigenous grape variety from the Alto Turia region where the winery has its vineyards, we must emphasize that it is the most awarded young wine from the 2014 vintage, from the whole Valencia region.

We started with a gold medal in 2015 at the Mundus Vini contest in Germany and just over a month ago it achieved another gold medal in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and two weeks before achieved 91 points in the guide SEVI 2015, a success added to the medals achieved at the Bacchus and PROAVA contests.

And, best of all, both wines have just been present in the market for only six months.
