The Wine Guide “La Semana Vitivinícola” has placed six wines from Bodegas Vegamar among the outstanding, exceeding 90 points. The guide, signed by Antonio Maria Casado after tasting and cataloging more than 1,500 Spanish wines, has the distinction  ordering the wines by not by wine regions but varieties.

Vegamar Crianza y Vegamar Seleccion Sauvignon Blanc

One of the most rated was the Vegamar Crianza 2012, with 92 points, a wine that is only for a month on the market and that is been received with high praise by the experts, since few days ago it won a Gold Medal in the Premium category in the PROAVA contest.

This Crianza is the result of a blend of Tempranillo with the French Syrah and Merlot, all grown in the vineyards that the winery has in Calles, in the Alto Turia.

With the same score, 92 points, lies the Vegamar Selección Sauvignon Blanc 2014 which was recently awarded with a silver medal in the PROAVA contest. We are facing a Sauvignon Blanc grown in high altitude than the taster stand out its “great texture and acid nerve with spicy and mineral background”, a complex wine despite being the youngest of the winery.

And again, our Garnacha achieves recognition. In this case the Vegamar Selección Garnacha 2014 reached 91 points in its first year on the market, an enviable note in an unusual variety and why Vegamar is betting to make unique and high quality wines.

These wines were awarded a few days ago in the PROAVA contest, reassuring that the winery is on the right track after the changes done a year ago by the prestigious winemaker Pablo Ossorio. The Vegamar Selección Garnacha has been awarded, so far this year, in Mundus Vini from Germany, in Vinalies from France and the Bacchus from Spain.

So many awards confirm we are on the good path and that the potential of this Garnacha is to develop, as Pablo Ossorio himself says.

And besides these ratings, the Vegamar Blanco and Vegamar Selección Merlot, both from the 2014 vintage, have managed 90 points and the Cava Vegamar Brut Nature 91.
